Here is a quick guide to fix “Microsoft Hosted Network Is Not Available” Error in Windows. Usually this error happens when you are using Connectify Hotspot application on your computer.

Connectify is a virtual router that helps in creating Wi-Fi hotspot in the computer so that any other PCs or mobiles can access the internet connection of your computer using Wifi. The current internet connection can be from Wi-Fi, 3G/4G, and ethernet connections and connectify can be used to create a hotspot to share the internet. The Microsoft Hosted Network Is Not Available message occurs when the Windows Network adapter is unable to find the hosted network.

First, we need to find out whether your hosted network is active. For that go to command prompt [Method is written below] and copy the below code and paste it. Then press enter.

netsh wlan show drivers

If the hostednetwork supported = “No”, then you need to start the hosted network. For that do the following methods.

Method 1: Update Device Driver Software

To fix this, Go to Start Menu > Type “Device manager” in the box > Select Device manager from the menu > Go to Network Adapters > Double click on Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter > Select Driver > Select Update Driver > Select Search automatically for updated driver software

Method 2: By Starting Hosted Network

Go to start menu > Type “cmd” without quotes > Right click on cmd application > Select “Run as administrator”

Copy the below code and paste it on Command prompt by right clicking.

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

Press Enter.

If you are getting error message like; “The hosted network couldn’t be started. The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation”, Go to the next step.

Method 3: Using Command Prompt

Go to start menu > Type “cmd” without quotes > Right click on cmd application > Select “Run as administrator”

Copy the below code and paste it on Command prompt by right clicking.

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=”MS Virtual WiFi” key=”networkkeykeyUsage=persistent

Press Enter.

Go to Device manager and select “Scan for Hardware changes” button in Action Menu.

If you are unable to find Microsoft hosted network virtual adapter in device manager, click on View in Device manager > Select Show Hidden devices > Check under Network Adapters

Method 4: By Reinstalling Device Driver Software

Go to Start Menu > Type “Device manager” in the box > Select Device manager from the menu > Go to Network Adapters > Double click on Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter > Select Driver > Select Uninstall Driver > Restart PC

Go to the official website of Microsoft and download driver software and install it > Restart PC

The “Microsoft Hosted Network Is Not Available” Error will be resolved after following the above methods.
