The Twilight Series: From a Vampire Fan

My friends often ask me, why am i such a huge fan of The Twilight Saga? I must have read all the four books at least four times by now, without including the fifth unfinished version of 'Midnight Sun' and the five movies based on the novel. It is rather not easy to answer them but I can say that Twilight changed my perspectives about fiction completely.

The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer

The first book was released in 2005 which then i started to read simply out of curiosity. I wanted to know why has it become one of the world's bestseller after harry potter series, but gradually i found it very addictive. The Twilight series for its readers is not just a book, it’s a whole new world and so is the same for its writer- Stephenie Meyer. The idea to write this book came to her from a dream she remembers vividly. From that miniscule part of her sub-conscious she weaved a beautiful story called twilight.

The book is beautifully written yet in words that even a layman can understand. This romantic plot would easily capture the heart of any young reader. It tangibly brings to life all the excitemnet and frenzy of the first love. The way Forks city is described and the stage is set, one can almost see the lush greenery and smell the soil getting wet in rains. The story is written in the first person making only the protagonist’s thoughts open to the readers. This way the author makes its young reader fall for Edward Cullen just as Bella does, by slowly unravelling his life secrets. Every page brings in something new and crisp that it is almost impossible to leave in unfinished. This book brings to life myths and legends about vampires and werewolves that have usually been seen in a negative light. It is heart touching to see them in positive roles where each character holds their individuality and significance throughout the series.

Edward's Cullen Statement

It is interesting to see how the novels have been titled describing the various phases of the moon. The concept of Twilight, Eclipse, New Moon and Breaking dawn basically revolve around the life of Bella Swan and how her life changes shades as she finds love in a vampire and her place in life illuminates from dark twilight to a new dawn. The love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob adds a new flavor to the story. What i found fascinating was that this novel unlike others romance do not show just pure love between a girl and a boy, it brings in various types of loves and attachments. It never fails to show the significance of sacrifice and putting the loved ones before oneself, be it husband, father, mother, sibling or a friend. It portrays a very significant message that true love does not mean acquisition, it means doing what is best for the other.
Jacob Black's Statement

Although it’s target audience is mostly adolescent girls it is not bad for a bit of light reading. It offers a little something for everyone, be it vampire fans or romance readers; after all fiction is meant to provide us with a medium of escape from reality. Stephenie Meyer through this series amazingly brings a fictional world of escape right at our bedrooms and it’s one of those bedtime stories that we never want to end.
